Manager Controllership (L08)

About the role

The Controllership organization within the Finance Center of Excellence is seeking a Manager to oversee day‑to‑day accounting activities for Synchrony business. This role ensures accurate client funding, reconciliations, journal entries, and supports quarterly and annual financial close processes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily client funding and ensure timely, accurate payments.
• Prepare and post journal entries, maintaining timeliness and accuracy.
• Execute daily and monthly account reconciliations for client settlement activities in line with GAAP and internal policies.
• Handle issue resolution for internal and external clients, including merchant adjustments, cardholder research, and suspense clearing.
• Raise off‑cycle wire requests for merchants and tax jurisdictions.
• Conduct monthly analytical reviews of settlement general‑ledger accounts.
• Support audit processes and respond to SOX and other compliance requests.
• Create and present weekly/monthly dashboards for management.
• Incorporate policy changes into processes and update documentation.
• Identify and implement process improvements and simplifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 1 year of relevant experience, or 3 years of experience without a degree.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑changing environment and a commitment to quality and customer service.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with settlement systems such as MBS, CMOD, Trams, SNSS.
• Familiarity with financial reporting tools like BlackLine and Oracle.
