Line Design Engineer

About the role

The Line Design Engineer will design and implement major CAPEX projects and selected customer requests for sub‑transmission and distribution lines. Working within the Power System Design Department, the role ensures designs meet specifications, budgets, schedules, and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare design criteria and deliverables for approved line projects.
• Develop Scope of Works and schedules using MS Project.
• Review previous designs and specifications to improve current projects.
• Verify statutory and regulatory compliance to avoid legal issues.
• Visit work sites and coordinate with private and government offices on design matters.
• Create construction plans and geometric orientations using AutoCAD.
• Validate pole and line designs with PLS‑POLE or PLS CADD simulations.
• Specify material dimensions, mechanical and electrical characteristics.
• Check overhead line design against company manuals and international guidelines.
• Prepare cost estimates, justifications, and impact analyses.
• Document design changes, work orders, and archive project data.
