Legal Officer – Remedial & Litigation

About the role

The Legal Officer will provide comprehensive legal support to Metrobank’s Special Accounts Management Group, Consumer Lending Group, Acquired Asset Management Disposition Division and other business units. The role focuses on remedial and litigation matters involving past‑due accounts, foreclosures, collections, and related enforcement actions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage past‑due accounts, foreclosure, collection, rehabilitation and liquidation cases.
• Attend hearings and trials, coordinate with the bank’s retained counsel, and prepare progress reports.
• Conduct legal due diligence, evaluate documents, and recommend appropriate remedial or litigation strategies.
• Draft, review and file pleadings, internal foreclosure documents, and other bank agreements.
• Coordinate with sheriffs, AAMDD and other enforcement agencies to execute writs of execution, possession or attachment.
• Provide legal opinions on queries and advise on risk‑related matters.
• Support various departments (SAMG, CLG, IBS, Credit, Branches) with legal services as needed.

Required profile

• Registered lawyer with a minimum of 2 years of practice.
• Substantial experience in litigation, preferably involving banking or financial matters.
• Strong analytical, research and drafting abilities.
• Banking experience is an advantage but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Litigation handling and courtroom representation.
• Legal research and jurisprudence analysis.
• Drafting pleadings, legal opinions and bank documents.
• Knowledge of foreclosure, collection and enforcement procedures.
