Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Legal Counsel to join our fast‑growing fintech team in the Philippines. You will act as the primary legal advisor, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements while supporting business initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and revise business contracts, corporate documents, and employment agreements.
• Conduct legal research on local laws, regulations, and industry updates to provide accurate opinions.
• Liaise with the SEC, BSP, NPC and other regulators for submissions, correspondence, and audits.
• Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, especially in consumer protection, data privacy, and digital lending.
• Collaborate with product, finance, operations, and compliance teams to support new products and market initiatives.
• Develop and maintain compliance manuals, internal policies, and staff training materials aligned with Philippine regulations.
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the business.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and a valid Philippine Bar license in good standing.
• 4‑5 years of legal experience, preferably in a law firm or in‑house setting.
• At least 3 years of compliance experience in the financial industry, with fintech or online lending exposure.
• Strong understanding of Philippine financial regulations, AML/CTF laws, and related compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and independent work capabilities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• AML/CFT compliance certification (e.g., Certified Anti‑Money Laundering Specialist) – preferred.
