Lead Estimator

About the role

Aurecon is looking for a Lead Estimator to own and drive robust cost estimation across all project stages. You will work with multidisciplinary teams locally and offshore, applying sound engineering judgement and Aurecon’s values to deliver sustainable, client‑focused solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead estimating activities across multiple disciplines, functions and project lifecycles.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for concept, FEED, detailed design and delivery phases.
• Develop first‑principles pricing for greenfield and brownfield projects, including labour rates, productivity factors and escalation.
• Coordinate inputs from engineering, procurement, construction and suppliers.
• Mentor junior estimators and support capability development.
• Maintain estimating spreadsheets, cost databases and tender documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum eight years of estimating experience with recognised engineering contractors, heavy construction firms or consulting organisations.
• Strong first‑principles estimating knowledge and ability to produce detailed labour‑hour build‑ups for structural steel, mechanical equipment, piping and design packages.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary, cross‑functional teams.
