Junior Backend Engineer

About the role

You will join the automation team as a Junior Backend Engineer, focusing on integrations and data pipelines. Your work will involve writing the code that connects our platform to vendor APIs and building reliable data flows, while collaborating daily with senior engineers and AI assistants.

Key responsibilities

• Develop vendor credential adapters in our Integration Hub using Python and FastAPI.
• Implement API integrations with transportation management systems such as TMW, McLeod, and MercuryGate.
• Write and maintain unit tests, fixtures, and documentation for each adapter.
• Assist in building the scaffolding for our ingestion gateway.
• Deliver 3–5 production‑ready adapters within the first 90 days.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of paid software‑development experience with production code shipped.
• Primary proficiency in Python 3.x and a GitHub portfolio you can discuss.
• Experience integrating third‑party REST APIs, handling authentication, retries, and errors.
• Daily fluency with Git and GitHub workflows.
• Basic SQL knowledge (joins, indexes, EXPLAIN).
• Written English fluency for async collaboration via Slack and PR comments.
• Comfortable using AI coding assistants (Claude, Copilot, Cursor) as part of the workflow.
• Stable internet connection (25+ Mbps), dedicated workspace, and a personal laptop with at least 16 GB RAM.
