Junior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Accountant to join our offshore team supporting an Australian accounting practice. You will work on bookkeeping tasks and prepare draft Australian personal tax returns for onshore review, gaining deeper technical knowledge in Australian accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day bookkeeping, including coding, reconciliations and data entry.
• Prepare draft Australian personal tax returns for review by the onshore team.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Work extensively in Xero to manage bookkeeping and accounting tasks.
• Assist with account reconciliations and financial data reviews.
• Support compliance and tax preparation processes.
• Ensure work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
• Collaborate with the wider accounting team to keep client files organised and up to date.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of Australian accounting experience (non‑negotiable).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Comfortable working within structured processes and review frameworks.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Coachable, reliable and open to feedback.
• Ability to manage deadlines and maintain quality under pressure.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience using Xero.
• Understanding of Australian personal tax return preparation.
• Familiarity with CAS 360 (nice to have).
• Experience with Active (Business Fitness) (nice to have).
• Exposure to MYOB or other Australian accounting software (nice to have).
