IT Security Operations Analyst II

About the role

The IT Security Operations Analyst II protects Microchip Technology Inc.’s information systems and networks from cyber threats. The role focuses on blue‑team operations, vulnerability management, incident response, and security engineering while collaborating closely with IT teams and management.

Key responsibilities

• Leverage threat intelligence to detect emerging cyber threats.
• Identify process‑tuning opportunities, develop automation playbooks, and optimise security technologies.
• Provide technical recommendations for tuning security controls.
• Act as an escalation point for process and technical guidance.
• Conduct quality audits of incident tickets and in‑depth investigations of security alerts.
• Manage security incidents, ensure timely resolution, and maintain high‑quality incident reports.
• Mentor Level 1 analysts and lead sub‑teams as needed.
• Provide on‑call support for high‑priority incidents and contribute to SOC playbooks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a Level 2 cyber‑security role.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CYSA+, CompTIA A+, Network+, or Cisco CCNA are highly desirable.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of firewalls, proxies, antivirus, and IDS/IPS solutions.
• Proficiency with networking protocols (TCP, IP, HTTP/HTTPS).
• Hands‑on experience with SIEM, UEBA, and EDR platforms.
• Knowledge of open‑source intelligence techniques.
