Intermediate Accountant (Tax)

About the role

The Intermediate Accountant (Tax) will join the Business Services team to deliver accurate financial statements and tax returns for a variety of clients. Working under moderate supervision, you will build technical capability, support tax planning, and begin managing client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies and trusts.
• Complete Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) and other compliance obligations.
• Assist in developing tax strategies, preparing tax planning documents and contributing to advisory projects.
• Liaise with the Australian Tax Office on client matters and compliance issues.
• Communicate with clients to gather information, respond to queries and support relationship management.
• Train junior team members and share technical knowledge.
• Manage personal workflow, flag issues early and assist in fee preparation under manager direction.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of accounting standards and Australian tax legislation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
• At least 1 year of experience in public practice accounting.
• Knowledge of Australian tax legislation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Suite.
• Experience with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks.
• Collaborative, client‑focused and accountable attitude.
