Head of Marine

About the role

AIG is seeking a Head of Marine for the Philippines to lead underwriting strategy, grow the portfolio and manage a talented team. Reporting to the Head of Marine, APAC, you will shape the future of AIG's marine business in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Own profit centre premium, growth and profitability targets; monitor retention, pricing, loss ratios and portfolio quality.
• Provide direction on complex or high‑value risks, oversee underwriting of new and renewal business, and ensure decisions align with AIG guidelines.
• Maintain senior relationships with key brokers and major clients, develop distribution strategies and represent AIG at market events.
• Set and execute the profit centre’s business plan, identify new segments and product opportunities, and drive cross‑selling with other AIG units.
• Lead, coach and develop underwriters, set performance expectations and build technical underwriting capability.
• Identify opportunities to improve products, wordings and endorsements, and work on strategic initiatives with regional teams.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting policies, regulatory requirements and audit standards, and manage underwriting authorities and referrals.

Required profile

• University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Maritime Studies or related field.
• Extensive commercial insurance experience with deep technical expertise in marine underwriting.
• Proven track record of managing teams, coaching talent and executing commercial strategies.
• Strong negotiation, stakeholder management and communication skills with executive‑level clients and brokers.
