Full Professorship in Open Science

About the role

The Department of Library and Information Science at Humboldt‑Universität zu Berlin invites applications for a Full Professorship (W2) in Open Science, starting 1 October 2026. The position focuses on the digital transformation of scholarly information infrastructures and the sociotechnical processes that support Open Science.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead research on information infrastructures for Open Science, including research data management, open access, and digital scholarly communication.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Library and Information Science, emphasizing digital services, research information management, and science policy.
• Secure and manage third‑party funded research projects.
• Contribute to departmental governance and curriculum development.
• Publish both theoretical and applied research that informs standards, policies, and reforms in Open Science.

Required profile

• Completed doctoral degree with habilitation‑equivalent qualifications.
• Demonstrated expertise in Open Science, research data management, or related fields.
• Proven teaching experience at the university level.
• Successful track record in acquiring and managing external research funding.
• Willingness to engage in internal academic self‑governance.
