Fixed Asset Tax Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Fixed Asset Tax Specialist to manage and optimize the tax treatment of our fixed assets. The role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and supports tax filings and audits.

Key responsibilities

• Calculate, review, and report tax depreciation using systems such as Tax Depreciation Systems (TDS) or other specialized software.
• Identify and reconcile differences between financial book depreciation (GAAP/IFRS) and tax depreciation (IRS rules).
• Record acquisitions, transfers, disposals, and retirements of fixed assets.
• Prepare fixed‑asset data for income‑tax returns, ASC 740 provision workpapers, and property‑tax filings.
• Analyze expenditures to determine proper capitalization versus expense treatment.
• Provide documentation for internal and external audit support.
• Monitor legislative changes (e.g., bonus depreciation, MACRS updates) and apply them to asset records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in fixed‑asset accounting and U.S. tax compliance.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. tax depreciation rules (MACRS, ADS, bonus depreciation, Section 179).
• Experience with public accounting or corporate tax environments.
• Preferred CPA designation or progress toward certification.

Required skills

• Tax Depreciation Systems (TDS) or similar specialized software.
• Fixed‑asset software such as Oracle FA, SAP, Workday, NetSuite.
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data analysis).
