Financial Controller

About the role

Hugo is seeking a Financial Controller to lead all accounting, statutory, tax, treasury and operational finance activities for its US operations. The role will ensure accurate, compliant financial reporting under US GAAP while collaborating with Africa‑based finance teams on inter‑company funding and IFRS‑US GAAP conversion.

Key responsibilities

• Own the US entity’s books, guaranteeing compliance with US GAAP and delivering timely, accurate financial statements.
• Manage month‑end close, reconciliations, revenue recognition and preparation of monthly/quarterly reports for consolidation and internal decision‑making.
• Coordinate group consolidation under US GAAP, integrating IFRS‑based African subsidiaries.
• Lead external financial reviews, audit readiness and ensure all entities meet auditor, lender or investor standards.
• Oversee inter‑company balances, funding, and maintain documentation for best practices and transfer pricing.
• Drive automation, working‑capital discipline and scalable processes to improve cash efficiency and financial insight.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience in managing full‑cycle accounting for a US entity.
• Proven ability to coordinate multi‑entity consolidation and audit processes.
• Experience working with cross‑border finance teams and handling IFRS‑US GAAP conversions.
• Excellent analytical rigor, attention to detail and ownership mindset.
