Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Controller to lead financial strategy and drive business performance for one of Australia's largest independent workplace solutions groups. You will combine technical accounting expertise with commercial influence, strengthening controls and championing continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial reporting, governance and control functions, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close, statutory reporting, external audits and compliance with Australian financial and taxation requirements.
• Prepare executive and Board‑level reports, budgets, forecasts, cash‑flow projections and commercial performance analysis.
• Partner with senior leaders to provide strategic insights that support operational performance.
• Oversee cash flow, working capital, payroll governance, rebate management and financial risk management.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, reporting processes, internal controls and automation initiatives.
• Lead, mentor and develop the Finance and Administration Officer and foster a high‑performing finance team.
• Support strategic projects, business planning and cross‑functional initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business or related discipline; CPA highly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a Financial Controller or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, IFRS, statutory reporting, taxation, external audits and financial compliance.
• Proven experience preparing management and Board reports, budgets, forecasts, cash‑flow projections and commercial financial analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (experience with Pronto is a plus).
• Demonstrated leadership ability to coach and influence a finance team.
