Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Controller to lead financial strategy and performance for one of Australia's largest independent workplace solutions groups. This role combines technical accounting excellence with commercial influence, driving continuous improvement across finance functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial reporting, governance, and control functions, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close, statutory reporting, external audits, and compliance with Australian financial and taxation requirements.
• Prepare executive and Board‑level reports, budgets, forecasts, cash‑flow projections, and commercial performance analyses.
• Partner with senior leaders to provide strategic insights that support operational performance.
• Oversee cash flow, working capital, payroll governance, rebate management, and financial risk management.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, reporting processes, internal controls, and automation initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance and Administration Officer and foster a high‑performing finance team.
• Support strategic projects, business planning, and cross‑functional initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business or related discipline; CPA highly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Financial Controller or in a comparable senior finance role.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, IFRS, statutory reporting, taxation, external audits and financial compliance.
• Proven experience preparing management and Board reports, budgets, forecasts, cash‑flow projections and commercial financial analysis.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems (Pronto preferred).
• Expertise in Australian Accounting Standards and IFRS.
• Statutory reporting, taxation and audit coordination.
• Financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting.
