Finance Controllership Officer

About the role

The Finance Controllership Officer ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records within a retail environment. This role supports business decisions by delivering timely financial reports, managing inventory accounting, and driving cost‑control initiatives across store operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Record all financial transactions in compliance with accounting standards.
• Monitor daily sales, cash collections, and perform bank reconciliations.
• Oversee inventory accounting, stock adjustments, and shrinkage analysis.
• Conduct financial analysis and recommend actions to improve profitability.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis reports.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, government reporting, and internal controls.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and implement recommendations.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and monitor operating expenses.
• Review and strengthen financial processes and internal control procedures.
• Collaborate with operations, merchandising, warehouse, and other departments to enhance financial performance.
• Supervise and develop the finance and accounting team, when applicable.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA certification preferred but not mandatory.
• 3–5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or controllership, preferably in retail.
• Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting and retail financial operations.
