Finance Controller – Remote (US)

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Controller to own Vitable’s accounting function, oversee our outsourced accounting partner, and lead the transition from QuickBooks to a modern ERP. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will act as the accounting backbone for the company while working remotely across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary accounting owner, supervising the external accounting partner and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
• Manage the day‑to‑day audit process for the 2025 audit, including PBC list coordination, workpaper quality, and auditor relationships.
• Oversee the monthly close in partnership with Graphite, reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Enforce controls around health‑plan disbursements, vendor payments, and third‑party invoice reviews.
• Lead the evaluation, selection, and migration to a next‑generation ERP (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct) from QuickBooks.
• Prepare and deliver monthly financial reporting packages for leadership and board review.
• Build and document internal controls, accounting policies, and SOPs that scale with growth.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors on federal and state filings.
• Identify workflow gaps and implement solutions, including automation and process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting, assistant controller or controller role.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge and experience with month‑end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Proven experience managing external audit relationships and coordinating audit deliverables.
• Experience working with outsourced or fractional accounting teams.
• Familiarity with ERP selection and implementation (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar).
• Excellent written English communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
