Database Specialist

About the role

OneOcean is looking to recruit a Database Specialist. In this role you will design, develop, and maintain data ingestion, transformation, and modelling pipelines as part of the organisation's analytics landscape and wider data ecosystem. You will provide the right data at the right time to enable decision‑making by internal stakeholders and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture from multiple data sources.
• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non‑functional business requirements.
• Automate manual processes, optimise data delivery and redesign infrastructure for greater scalability.
• Build infrastructure for extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) from a wide variety of sources.
• Ensure robust data validation and verification to guarantee reporting accuracy.
• Develop and maintain data‑warehousing approaches, including modelling and pipelining for storage and retrieval.
• Produce documentation such as specifications, data models and relationships for effective communication with business units.

Required profile

• Experience with on‑premises and cloud databases (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Azure, Aurora MySQL, etc.).
• Microsoft‑accredited or industry‑recognised qualification for SQL Server preferred.
• Strong understanding of data management, cleansing and query optimisation.
• Experience using cloud technologies, preferably AWS.
• Proficiency with scripting languages such as JavaScript and C#.
• Demonstrated problem‑solving ability and experience with CI/CD and source‑control tools.
• Ability to model datasets for visualisation tools like PowerBI.
• Strong stakeholder‑management and communication skills.
