Data Migration Technical Lead (Hybrid Setup)

About the role

The Data Migration Technical Lead will own end‑to‑end migration programmes, working closely with clients and stakeholders to define scope, design transformation logic and ensure successful cut‑over. This hybrid role combines client‑facing workshops with hands‑on technical delivery of ETL/ELT pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate workshops to agree data scope, cleansing rules, transformation logic and acceptance criteria.
• Lead discovery and requirements‑gathering sessions, translating business needs into migration designs.
• Present technical approaches to stakeholders from data owners to C‑suite, managing expectations and building trust.
• Produce source‑to‑target mapping specifications, data dictionaries and transformation design documents.
• Design and build ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Talend or comparable open‑source tools.
• Write and optimise SQL for profiling, extraction, deduplication, cleansing and validation.
• Develop Python scripts for bespoke transformation logic and automation.
• Execute migration runs, triage failures and iterate through mock and cut‑over cycles.
• Manage file and attachment migration workstreams.
• Define and enforce delivery standards, testing frameworks, reconciliation reporting and sign‑off processes.
• Contribute to internal migration methodology, reusable accelerators and best‑practice documentation.
• Support pre‑sales activities by scoping efforts, producing estimates and contributing to proposals.

Required profile

• Delivered multiple end‑to‑end data migration and ETL projects in complex, multi‑system environments.
• Strong consulting background with exposure to varied clients across industries.
• Experience guiding programmes from scoping and workshops through UAT, cut‑over and post‑migration hyper‑care.
• Proven accountability for delivery outcomes and milestone achievement in pressured settings.
• Excellent facilitation skills, able to engage both technical teams and non‑technical business stakeholders.

Required skills

• SQL for data profiling and transformation.
• Python (or equivalent scripting language) for automation.
• Enterprise ETL tools: Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Talend or comparable open‑source tooling.
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure Synapse, Databricks or Snowflake.
• Familiarity with API bulk loading patterns, rate limits and governor constraints.
• Nice‑to‑have: Salesforce or other CRM data migrations, data governance frameworks, MDM tooling, relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer, Informatica).
