Data Engineer / Senior Data Engineer

About the role

Manulife is looking for a Data Engineer or Senior Data Engineer in Quezon City to help build and maintain its data systems and architecture. The role works with data engineers, data architects and the governance team to design, develop and deploy data pipelines, ETL processes and data integration solutions that move data from many sources into the data warehouse. The final job title will be confirmed after interviews and a technical assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks and other services.
• Maintain the data architecture, including data models, schemas and data dictionaries.
• Integrate data from various sources, ensuring quality and consistency for analytical and operational use.
• Follow data governance policies to protect data security, privacy and compliance.
• Work with data scientists, analysts and business teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
• Keep up with new tools and technologies and adopt best practices in big data and cloud computing.

Required profile

• 4+ years of relevant experience as a Data Engineer.
• Experience building and running data pipelines in Microsoft Azure with Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks.
• Experience automating pipelines and familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Good knowledge of Azure services (SQL queries, ADLS Gen 2, ADF, Databricks, Synapse, SQL Server) to design a data ecosystem.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and relational data modelling.
• Programming in compiled languages (Java, Scala) and scripting languages (Python, SQL, R).
• Agile Scrum experience, with tools such as Teams, JIRA and Mural.
• Experience in data processing, performance analysis, tuning and capacity planning.
• Amenable to a hybrid setup (3 days onsite per week) and to night shifts, with flexibility for mid-shift depending on business needs.
