Data Engineer – Build Scalable Data Platform

About the role

As a Data Engineer at Salmon, you will design, build, and scale the data platform that powers decision‑making across our fintech ecosystem. You will own end‑to‑end pipelines, ensuring data moves reliably from source systems to actionable insights for millions of users in Southeast Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Design and operate batch and streaming pipelines on Databricks and Apache Spark within AWS.
• Shape the lakehouse architecture on S3 and Delta Lake, implementing Bronze/Silver/Gold medallion layers.
• Collaborate with analytics, engineering, and product teams to turn raw data into reliable business inputs.
• Build and maintain fault‑tolerant, cost‑optimized ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Optimize Spark jobs (cluster sizing, caching, joins, shuffles, partitioning, storage formats).
• Manage Databricks Workflows, jobs, clusters, and handle failures/performance issues.
• Implement data governance and access control using Unity Catalog.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with Databricks and strong proficiency in Apache Spark (PySpark or Scala).
• Strong Python programming skills and solid SQL/Spark SQL knowledge.
• Experience with Delta Lake and lakehouse performance optimization.
• Ability to write clean, testable, maintainable code using Git version control.
• Self‑starter who can own pipelines from design through production.
