Cyber Security Analyst

About the role

As a Cyber Security Analyst at MicroSourcing you will investigate cybersecurity incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and support containment, remediation and recovery activities. You will also monitor security events using SIEM and Microsoft security tools, assess risks across projects and ensure compliance with governance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and analyse cybersecurity incidents together with managed security service providers.
• Monitor security alerts and events through SIEM platforms and Microsoft security technologies.
• Assess cybersecurity risks for ICT projects, digital initiatives and business operations.
• Conduct security assessments for third‑party vendors, supply‑chain partners and new technologies.
• Develop and maintain documentation, awareness programmes, operational procedures and incident‑response playbooks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cyber Security or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in cyber security operations, GRC, third‑party security or a related function.
• Strong understanding of security principles, risk management, controls and incident‑response processes.
• Experience with SIEM platforms, Microsoft security solutions and Azure IaaS/PaaS environments.
• Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder‑management abilities.

Required skills

• SIEM platforms (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel).
• Microsoft security technologies.
• Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS.
• Microsoft Purview.
• Knowledge of ISO/IEC 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ACSC Essential Eight and Australian privacy legislation.
• Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+, Microsoft AZ‑500, AZ‑305, SC‑200, SC‑300.
