Controller – Audit‑Focused (Remote)

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing CFO‑as‑a‑service firm, is seeking a high‑performing Controller to own end‑to‑end audit preparation for multiple high‑growth startup clients. This is a senior, audit‑focused position that works directly with Big 4 auditors and delivers fully audit‑ready financial packages.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare audit‑ready financial statements, working papers, and complete PBC packages with clear referencing and traceability.
• Lead reconciliation of material balance‑sheet accounts, including revenue recognition, accruals, payroll/equity entries, and fixed‑asset capitalization.
• Perform full tie‑outs between trial balance, lead sheets, and financial statements.
• Identify audit risks and gaps proactively, resolve issues independently, and communicate directly with Big 4 auditors.
• Support monthly and year‑end close at a controller level across multiple startup clients.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with CPA certification.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience, including Big 4 or top‑tier audit firm background.
• Strong hands‑on experience preparing audit files and working directly with auditors.
• Practical, application‑based knowledge of US GAAP.
