Control Room Operator – Feed Milling

About the role

Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, the Control Room Operator oversees the efficient operation of major and minor equipment across the receiving, batching, grinding, mixing, pelleting, fat‑coating and bagging sections of the feed mill. The role ensures high‑quality feed production while meeting the plant’s quantity and cost objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate raw‑material sequencing with the warehouse, operate the computerized receiving system and monitor silo inventories to prevent overflows and mix‑ups.
• Manage the computerized batching process, including weighing, grinding, mixing, liquid addition and ensure continuous operation in line with production schedules.
• Control the pelleting and fat‑coating equipment, adjust parameters, monitor product quality (durability, size, colour, nutrition) and generate pelleting reports.
• Oversee the bagging section, coordinate with the bagger, verify bagging reports and ensure proper hand‑over to the next shift.
• Perform minor repairs, calibrations (coconut oil injection, liquid mixers) and provide feedback on automation errors or improvements.

Required profile

• Graduate of an Engineering course, preferably Electrical or Mechanical.
• Experience in feed‑milling operations is preferred.
• Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Knowledge of PLC programming and operation.
• Computer literacy for operating control‑room software.
