Construction/Safety Manager (BSL-2 Laboratory Projects)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Construction/Safety Manager to lead the execution of BSL-2 laboratory construction projects. This role bridges complex MEP designs with on‑site implementation, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with biological containment standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily field operations and ensure project milestones are achieved.
• Coordinate subcontractors, resolve on‑site issues, and maintain schedule adherence.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for MEP design execution in laboratory builds.
• Verify that secondary containment systems meet BSL-2 biological safety requirements and international standards.
• Collaborate with design teams to address challenges and implement field changes.
• Develop and enforce site‑specific safety protocols, conduct inspections, and mitigate hazards.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including progress reports and inspection logs.
• Manage QA/QC procedures to guarantee construction quality.
• Assist with budget tracking and construction sequencing to optimize resources.
• Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• 5–8 years of commercial construction experience, with at least 3 years in laboratory or healthcare environments.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems and BSL-2 containment requirements.
• Proven project management abilities and experience handling multiple tasks.
