Compliance Officer – Privacy

About the role
The Compliance Officer – Privacy supports the University’s Office of Data Protection by managing compliance activities, handling privacy incidents, and resolving complaints. Working under the Assistant Director, UDPO, the role also contributes to research, capacity‑building initiatives, and general office administration.
Key responsibilities
- Register the University’s data processing systems with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) and notify the agency of any automated decision‑making systems.
- Monitor data‑protection concerns across university offices and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders during compliance checks, investigations, and related activities.
- Prepare and submit Security Incident Response Team assessment reports, gather information for privacy‑related complaints, and draft responses to common issues.
- Review and draft data‑sharing, subcontracting, and outsourcing agreements to ensure compliance with data‑protection requirements.
- Conduct policy research, analyze news on privacy matters, and provide advisory input on potential impacts to the University’s data‑protection framework.
- Serve as a speaker for trainings and workshops, and develop educational materials on data protection.
- Support office logistics, including meeting preparation, minute‑taking, and coordination of guest arrangements.
Required profile
- Relevant experience in data‑privacy or compliance management, preferably within an academic or large‑organization setting.
- Strong understanding of Philippine data‑protection laws and the National Privacy Commission’s requirements.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze legal and policy documents and produce clear, actionable recommendations.
Required skills
- Knowledge of data‑privacy regulations and compliance frameworks.
- Experience drafting and reviewing data‑sharing and outsourcing agreements.
- Proficiency in preparing reports, meeting materials, and educational content.
