Buyer III – Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Buyer III is responsible for sourcing and procuring goods and services for technical and marine projects. The role supports both shipboard and shoreside customers, ensuring specifications are met while seeking cost‑effective alternatives and timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and clarify requisitions from requestors.
• Source, negotiate, and select suppliers, including unconventional sources when needed.
• Make procurement decisions based on price, availability, transportation, and delivery schedules.
• Provide cost‑saving analyses and recommendations to customers and management.
• Coordinate with shipboard, shoreside, suppliers, and logistics to guarantee uninterrupted delivery.
• Monitor supplier performance, address deviations, and manage emergency orders for USPH and USCG compliance.
• Process contract orders, approvals, and transportation documentation.
• Research and resolve delivery failures, discrepancies, and invoice disputes.
• Maintain regular communication with customers on order status and travel to ships, suppliers, or project sites as required.

Required profile

• Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3‑5 years of procurement experience.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with multiple projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills for multicultural communication.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
