Bridge Foundation Engineer

About the role

The Bridge Foundation Engineer will lead the structural design, analysis and assessment of bridges and related transportation structures, ensuring safety, durability and cost‑effectiveness across the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structural design and advanced calculations for bridges, viaducts, culverts and retaining walls using software such as MIDAS Civil and STAAD.
• Develop conceptual, preliminary and detailed design drawings, specifications and conduct design checks, peer reviews and value‑engineering studies.
• Apply international and local design standards (AASHTO LRFD, Eurocode, BS Standards, DPWH Bridge Design Manuals) and maintain compliance with quality‑assurance procedures.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, prepare schedules, work plans and support project proposals, feasibility studies and tender documents.
• Provide technical support during construction, review shop drawings, respond to RFIs and conduct site inspections.
• Perform condition assessments, load rating analyses and develop repair, strengthening or retrofit strategies for existing bridges, including use of structural health monitoring data.
• Mentor junior engineers, deliver internal training and act as subject‑matter expert for bridge design.
• Engage with clients, contractors, government agencies and present technical information to non‑technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred); professional engineering licence/registration.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in bridge or structural engineering design.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical principles, materials engineering and construction methods.
• Excellent technical writing, communication and coordination abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as MIDAS Civil and STAAD.
• Familiarity with design codes: AASHTO LRFD, Eurocode, BS Standards, DPWH Bridge Design Manuals.
• Experience in structural health monitoring (SHM) data interpretation.
• Ability to produce detailed design drawings and specifications.
