Backend Engineer – Python/Django (Remote, EU FinTech)

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain high‑performance services for a fast‑growing EU fintech platform. You will work remotely, aligning with Manila time, and collaborate with product, operations, and client teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python/Django APIs that handle high‑volume loyalty and payment transactions.
• Optimize PostgreSQL schema and queries for performance and data integrity.
• Implement asynchronous processing using Celery or similar task queues.
• Manage AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability.
• Monitor production systems, troubleshoot incidents, and provide second‑line support to meet SLAs.
• Support enterprise client onboarding and technical integrations.
• Champion engineering best practices, including code quality, documentation, and architectural consistency.

Required profile

• Strong backend engineering experience with Python and Django.
• Proven ability to design and integrate RESTful APIs for high‑throughput environments.
• Solid understanding of database design, especially PostgreSQL performance tuning.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and deployment pipelines.
• Security‑first mindset with awareness of application security and compliance.
• Problem‑solving orientation and ownership mentality.
