Backend Developer – Remote

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain applications that support network operations and engineering functions. This fully remote position works closely with cross‑functional teams, vendors, and security stakeholders to ensure reliable performance and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug and maintain enterprise‑grade backend applications using Java and/or Python.
• Enhance and support existing solutions, including legacy on‑premises systems, to guarantee business continuity.
• Perform root‑cause analysis of application issues and deliver sustainable fixes.
• Provide end‑to‑end engineering support, collaborating with business units, functional groups and vendors.
• Represent messaging services in security discussions to ensure compliance.
• Evaluate, adopt and integrate emerging technologies to improve application capabilities.
• Contribute innovative ideas to optimise development and operational processes.

Required profile

• Strong background in backend application development with object‑oriented principles.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Python for building scalable solutions.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices (CI/CD, continuous delivery).
• Ability to conduct complex problem solving and root‑cause investigations.
• Design thinking skills to create modular, maintainable, and scalable architectures.
