Backend Developer (Laravel & AWS)

About the role

We are seeking a highly driven Backend Developer with deep expertise in Laravel, MySQL, and API development. The position starts remotely on a part‑time basis for 1–2 months and transitions to full‑time after a performance review, working within the AU time zone.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and RESTful APIs.
• Build and document APIs using Postman, ensuring clear specifications.
• Develop backend solutions with Laravel (v8 or later) and optimise database performance.
• Fine‑tune SQL queries, database schemas, and overall system efficiency.
• Integrate third‑party services such as Stripe API.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code, including unit tests.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams following Agile (Scrum/Kanban) practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend issues promptly.
• Support deployment and server configuration on DigitalOcean or AWS.

Required profile

• Proven track record in IT or software development, preferably with web or mobile applications.
• Strong drive, ambition, and work ethic with a continuous desire to improve.
• Ability to take ownership and deliver high‑quality outputs.
• Experience as a Developer, Engineer, or Product Manager is a plus.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Reliable internet connection (minimum 30 Mbps).

Required skills

• Laravel (v8+) and the Laravel ecosystem.
• MySQL optimisation and performance profiling.
• SQL schema design, SOLID principles, and scalable architecture.
• RESTful API development and documentation with Postman.
• Server setup and deployment on DigitalOcean and AWS.
• Version control with Git.
• Unit testing and test‑driven development.
• Stripe API integration.
• Basic familiarity with Nuxt.js for frontend‑backend integration.
