Assistant Vice President, Accounting Manager

About the role

The Assistant Vice President, Accounting Manager leads day‑to‑day accounting operations for Axos Financial and its subsidiaries. This senior position ensures accurate month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closes, regulatory reporting, and compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily accounting activities, month‑end closures, and preparation of workbooks for regulatory filings.
• Oversee internal financial statements, Call Reports, SEC filings (10‑Q/10‑K) and complex regulatory schedules.
• Maintain internal controls, coordinate SOX testing, and serve as liaison for internal and external auditors.
• Review and release manual journal entries, analytical reviews, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare consolidated cash‑flow statements and support independent public accounting auditors.
• Implement and integrate new accounting systems to automate controls and reduce manual processes.
• Leverage Oracle SmartView and Claude.ai to improve operating efficiency.
• Mentor, train and manage a team of 7‑12 accounting professionals.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in accounting operations, month‑end/quarter‑end/year‑end close processes.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, regulatory reporting, and SOX compliance.
• Proven ability to lead and develop accounting staff.
• Experience coordinating with internal and external audit teams.
