Artificial Intelligence Engineer (Full‑Stack)

About the role

We are seeking a Philippines‑based AI Engineer to design, build and maintain production‑ready full‑stack applications for a South African technology company. The role combines backend, frontend and generative‑AI development, covering everything from architecture to deployment and ongoing monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy complete applications, including APIs, databases and user interfaces.
• Integrate solutions with internal systems, third‑party platforms and external data sources.
• Implement generative‑AI features such as retrieval‑augmented generation, structured outputs, tool use, streaming, prompt management and model orchestration.
• Create workflow automations using n8n, custom pipelines or event‑driven architectures.
• Evaluate large language models on quality, cost, privacy and latency.
• Set up logging, error tracking, monitoring and alerts; investigate production issues and improve reliability.
• Write secure, tested, maintainable and well‑documented code, leveraging AI coding assistants where appropriate.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience building and shipping full‑stack applications.
• Proven experience maintaining real production systems.
• Strong backend skills with Python or Node.js/TypeScript.
• Solid frontend experience with React or Next.js.
• Hands‑on experience integrating generative AI or large language models into production.
• Familiarity with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini or comparable models.
• Working knowledge of relational or non‑relational databases, API design and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with AWS, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure.
• Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker and modern deployment practices.
• Clear spoken and written English and ability to collaborate remotely with a South African team.
• Portfolio or examples of full‑stack or generative‑AI applications in production.
