Accounting Manager

About the role

Makro Philippines (CP Axtra AC Corporation) is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead its finance function. This hands‑on leadership position will build accounting processes from the ground up, support strategic decisions and manage a small, dynamic finance team in a fast‑growing retail startup.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely recording of all transactions in accordance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards.
• Manage month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing processes and prepare or review financial statements.
• Maintain asset and liability records, including inventory and fixed‑asset registers.
• Design, implement and continuously improve financial processes and internal control systems.
• Establish policies for cash handling, inventory management, procurement and expense approvals.
• Ensure compliance with Philippine tax regulations, timely filings and statutory reporting.
• Coordinate with external auditors and support audit requirements.
• Liaise with tax consultants and government agencies as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CPA certification (required) and other finance or tax‑related certifications a plus.
• At least 10 years of relevant accounting experience, including 3 + years in large‑format retail.
• Proven supervisory experience managing a finance team.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, tax regulations and financial processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting systems.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
