Software Engineer – Internal Tools & HR Automation

About the role

Join Salmon’s fast‑growing fintech team to build and own the Frontline Employees Database – the internal system that powers HR and operational workflows for thousands of frontline staff across Southeast Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain automation and integration workflows using n8n (or similar low‑code platforms).
• Create and evolve PostgreSQL data models for custom internal solutions.
• Build internal applications, forms and UI components in Retool.
• Integrate HR and enterprise systems (HiBob, Ashby, etc.) via REST APIs, webhooks and custom Python/JavaScript logic.
• Test, troubleshoot, document and provide internal support for existing tools (≈20% of time).
• Collaborate with HR, Operations, People Partners and Support to translate business needs into MVPs and later into reliable products.

Required profile

• Proactive self‑starter who can interpret incomplete requirements and make sound technical decisions.
• Strong communication skills in English for interaction with international stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek clarification or escalation.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with n8n, Make or another low‑code automation platform.
• Solid SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Experience building internal apps with Retool or a comparable tool.
• Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript for scripting and automation.
• Understanding of REST APIs, webhooks and common integration patterns.
