Senior U.S. Tax Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior U.S. Tax Accountant to join a thriving accounting firm in the Pacific Northwest. The role combines deep expertise in U.S. tax preparation, bookkeeping, and financial reporting with strong communication abilities to serve small‑business clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file federal tax returns (1120S, 1065, 1040 with Schedule C/D) and handle Form 3115 adjustments.
• Balance and reconcile balance sheets, maintain accurate financial records, and manage accounts payable/receivable.
• File Washington State DOR retail sales tax reports on schedule.
• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accruals, general ledger, and journal entries.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Manage payroll processing using ADP Payroll.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Interact directly with clients, answer inquiries, and provide professional support.
• Mentor junior staff and assist with their training and development.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional accounting experience, with at least 2 years focused on U.S. tax preparation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred but not required).
• Strong knowledge of federal tax forms and WA State DOR sales tax filing.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and detail‑orientation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ADP Payroll.
• Experience using accounting software and systems for bookkeeping and financial reporting.
