Senior Accounting Associate – Travel Claims

About the role

The Senior Accounting Associate – Travel Claims will supervise and coordinate the processing of travel claims for assigned regions, ensuring strict adherence to IOM Travel Rules and Regulations. Reporting to the GSSC Accounting Supervisor – Travel Claims, the role serves as the primary contact for regional offices on travel‑related financial matters.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the end‑to‑end processing of travel claims across multiple regions.
• Ensure compliance with IOM Travel Policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior assistants handling travel claims.
• Act as the focal point for regional offices, addressing queries and resolving issues related to travel reimbursements.
• Support audit and review procedures, maintaining accurate documentation and records.

Required profile

• University degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field with at least four years of relevant experience, or a school diploma with six years of experience.
• CPA or equivalent certification is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle accounting systems, GAAP, internal controls and audit/review processes.
• Proven supervisory experience in finance or accounting functions.
• Experience in international organizations or shared service centers is preferred.
