Safety Officer - Solar Project

About the role

The Safety Officer will lead and manage health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) aspects across the full lifecycle of solar PV projects, from design through operations. The role ensures compliance with Bureau Veritas standards, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and relevant OSHA regulations while fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement site‑specific HSSE plans aligned with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and Bureau Veritas policies.
• Conduct hazard identification (HAZID) and risk assessments for electrical work, work‑at‑height and heavy‑equipment activities.
• Oversee subcontractor pre‑qualification, safety performance reviews and ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action reporting.
• Maintain HSSE records, track KPIs and report performance to project leadership.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science or a related field.
• Professional safety certification such as NEBOSH IGC, OSHA 30‑hr, IOSH or CSP.
• 3–5+ years of on‑site HSE experience in solar PV or large‑scale renewable EPC projects.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and Bureau Veritas HSSE policies.
