Legal Counsel – Asia Pacific (excluding China)

About the role

Copeland is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide legal advisory and contracts‑management support across its Asia Pacific jurisdictions (excluding China). The role will act as a business partner under the Commercial Excellence structure, delivering onsite legal assistance to the Philippines site and supporting regional and global compliance projects.

Key responsibilities

• Advise business leaders on general legal matters, develop and improve compliance policies, and deliver legal/compliance trainings.
• Support M&A activities from due diligence through post‑close integration, and manage dispute resolution with external counsel.
• Draft, review and negotiate a variety of contracts including procurement, sales, NDAs, service and consultancy agreements, and evaluate vendor compliance.
• Develop and implement data‑privacy policies and programs for jurisdictions such as Thailand, Philippines and Singapore, and manage data‑privacy incidents.
• Provide onsite legal support to Copeland Philippines, advise on labor cases in collaboration with HR, and oversee corporate housekeeping.

Required profile

• LL.B. or J.D. degree, licensed attorney.
• Minimum 5 years of experience delivering general legal support, contract review, corporate advisory and regulatory compliance, preferably in‑house.
• Strong knowledge of data‑privacy laws and ability to give practical business‑focused legal advice.
• High integrity, independent work style and ability to balance stakeholder interests.
