Retail Quality Assurance Officer

About the role

The Retail Quality Assurance Officer ensures food safety and quality standards across all Spinneys retail stores. Working closely with the Retail Operations team, the officer conducts audits, manages non‑conformances, and acts as the primary liaison with authorities to maintain the integrity of the food safety management system.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with retail operations to maintain high food safety standards in stores.
• Conduct monthly, quarterly and bi‑annual internal audits.
• Support the retail operations team during external audits and inspections.
• Review and approve internal and external non‑conformance reports.
• Deliver required training sessions.
• Participate in periodic SOP reviews and updates.
• Investigate high‑priority complaints, accidents and incidents.
• Lead regional management system meetings as needed.
• Escalate QHSE concerns to the operations team and Retail QA Manager.
• Serve as the first point of contact for municipal and local authorities on QHSE matters.
• Manage portfolios including HACCP, lab sampling, withdrawals & recalls, pest control, and equipment cleaning programs.
• Maintain product integrity documentation such as specifications, label assessments, and ingredient approvals.
• Consolidate regulatory requirements and support the QA Manager in preserving the food safety system.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in food science, microbiology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a quality assurance role, preferably within food retail.
• In‑depth understanding of food safety standards, including HACCP.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
