Middle School ELD Teacher (2026-2027)

About the role

The Tucson Unified School District is seeking a dedicated Middle School English Language Development (ELD) teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year at Utterback Middle School. The role focuses on creating an inclusive learning environment that supports English learners and promotes academic growth.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver lesson plans aligned with state standards for middle‑grade language arts and English.
• Assess, monitor, and report student performance to drive achievement.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers to plan instruction and integrate diversity‑focused practices.
• Administer AZELLA testing and ensure compliance with Arizona Department of Education (ADE) requirements for English learners.
• Maintain a safe classroom and uphold district policies, including fingerprint clearance and immunization proof.

Required profile

• Valid Arizona teaching certificate in one of the listed areas (Elementary, Middle Grades, Secondary, or Subject Matter Expert) with an English Approved Area.
• Arizona SEI, Spanish‑Bilingual, or ESL endorsement.
• Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Proof of measles and rubella immunity or MMR vaccination.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AZELLA testing platform.
