Lead Foreman / Carpenter – Commercial Construction

About the role

Ouellet Construction is seeking an experienced Lead Foreman/Carpenter to oversee small to medium‑sized crews on commercial and high‑end residential projects across Central, Coastal and Southern Maine. You will combine hands‑on carpentry expertise with strong leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate crew activities, communicating effectively with managers and clients.
• Enforce company safety policies and maintain a clean work environment.
• Interpret drawings, sketches, and building plans to determine layout, dimensions, and material requirements.
• Use hand and power tools safely, training team members as needed.
• Install wood and metal framing, windows, door frames, trim, hardware, and metal stud systems.
• Maintain confidentiality of client and business information.
• Plan, resolve, and de‑escalate on‑site issues proactively.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of experience in commercial or high‑end residential construction.
• Proven ability to lead a crew of varying size.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Strong work ethic, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Professional, outgoing, energetic, and self‑motivated.
• Willingness to learn more about commercial construction practices.

Required skills

• Carpentry (wood framing, trim, door/window installation).
• Metal stud framing and metal fixture installation.
• Reading and interpreting construction drawings and plans.
• Safe operation of hand and power tools.
• Basic knowledge of commercial building codes, means, and methods.
