Health and Safety Manager – Hydropower & Dam Projects

About the role

The Health and Safety Manager will lead all HSE activities for a hydropower and dam construction project, ensuring full compliance with legal, contractual and international standards while fostering a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the Project HSE Management Plan.
• Establish HSE policies, procedures and objectives aligned with contracts and regulations.
• Integrate HSE requirements into construction methodologies and schedules.
• Conduct risk assessments, JHAs and method statements for site hazards.
• Oversee HSE inspections, audits, site surveillance and contractor performance.
• Investigate serious incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and close out NCRs.
• Deliver project‑wide HSE training, inductions, toolbox talks and task‑specific sessions.
• Coordinate with Project Manager, engineers, contractors and regulatory authorities on HSE matters.
• Maintain HSE reporting systems and submit daily, weekly and monthly reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or related field.
• 10–15 years progressive HSE management experience in construction, infrastructure, dam or energy projects.
• Post‑graduate qualification or diploma in HSE, Environmental Management or Risk Management is an advantage.
• International HSE certifications (NEBOSH International Diploma/IGC, CSP, IOSH Managing Safely/CMIOSH, OSHA).
• Valid First Aid, Emergency Response and Fire Safety certifications.
• Formal training in ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
