Design Engineer

About the role

Weir is seeking a Design Engineer to join our Manila team on a hybrid schedule. You will contribute to the development of mining equipment that supports a sustainable future, applying engineering expertise to create efficient, high‑quality products.

Key responsibilities

• Generate innovative product concepts and develop detailed design specifications for excavator buckets, loaders, LHDs, face shovels, and truck trays.
• Create 3D CAD models, run simulations, and perform finite element analysis (FEA) to validate performance.
• Collaborate with global product engineering, local manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure designs meet quality, material, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Provide technical support to fabrication teams, conduct inspections, and resolve design‑related issues.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Travel minimally to customer and manufacturing sites as needed while upholding zero‑harm safety standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of design experience in the mining or construction industry.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with complex 3D parametric CAD software (NX preferred).
• Experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and using simulation tools.
• Ability to develop detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
