Deputy Project Manager

About the role

The Deputy Project Manager will support the Project/Construction Manager in delivering large‑scale civil and marine infrastructure projects, ensuring quality, safety and schedule compliance. This senior role involves close coordination with subcontractors, consultants, authorities and the client.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Project/Construction Manager in overseeing construction sites, contractors and workers.
• Report progress, cost and quality metrics to senior management.
• Liaise with subcontractors, consultants and authorities, providing guidance and supervision.
• Manage project phases from design through completion, optimizing resources and cost‑effectiveness.
• Lead a team of senior engineers, section engineers, engineers and inspectors.
• Coordinate client meetings, progress updates and weekly status reports.
• Supervise contractor and consultant teams to ensure compliance with SOPs and HSE procedures.
• Develop and maintain project cost controls, budgets and change order estimates.
• Monitor schedules, invoices and submittals, and review contractor progress reports.

Required profile

• Degree qualified civil/structural engineer.
• At least 10 years of experience managing large‑scale civil engineering projects, with 5 years in marine works such as dredging, reclamation, rock works, wharf and jetty construction.
• Experience in risk assessment, geotechnical and environmental impact assessments, tender preparation, site supervision and contract administration.
• Professional Project Management qualification (e.g., PMP) preferred.
• Strong technical competence, excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive “can‑do” attitude.
