Boiler Specialist / Combustion Engineer – Safety Review

About the role

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Boiler Specialist or Combustion Engineer to lead a critical safety review of boiler protection settings at a large‑scale power generation facility. The focus is on aligning protection systems with the Boiler Safe Operating Envelope and ensuring full compliance with NFPA 85 standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive technical assessment of boiler protection settings.
• Validate alignment with NFPA 85 (Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code).
• Perform advanced transient simulations, including load cutbacks, furnace pressure excursions, and low feedwater flow conditions.
• Review and optimise protection setpoints for safe and reliable operation.
• Provide technical recommendations based on simulation results and industry best practice.
• Prepare documentation and reports for safety compliance and audit purposes.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Boiler Specialist, Combustion Engineer, or similar role in power generation.
• Demonstrated expertise in NFPA 85 audits, boiler protection systems, and process safety.
• Prior experience conducting technical safety assessments for large‑scale industrial boiler systems.
