Commodity Buyer

About the role

The Commodity Buyer will lead the procurement of both local and imported commodities needed for animal nutrition and pet solutions at our Cagayan De Oro plant. This is a full‑time, on‑site position within the Procurement team, responsible for executing purchase strategies and ensuring continuous production.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement sourcing, supplier negotiation, and selection for assigned raw materials nationwide.
• Monitor inventory levels and align stock positions with purchase strategy and demand plans.
• Manage contracts, including review, negotiation, execution, and coordination of foreign‑exchange exposure with Finance and Treasury.
• Provide cost projections, analyze market trends, and support product pricing strategies.
• Collaborate with QA, Formulation, Supply Chain, and Operations to maintain uninterrupted production.
• Lead supplier evaluations with Quality Assurance and Food Safety teams.
• Identify cost‑reduction opportunities, new ingredients, and alternative sourcing options.
• Prepare weekly commodity commentary, price updates, and mark‑to‑market risk reports.
• Develop and maintain a competitive supplier network and manage key supplier relationships.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in commodity procurement, preferably in agri‑business or trade.
• Experience with foreign trade transactions is preferred.
• Self‑driven team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in English.
