Staff Developer (Node.js, React, PWA)

About the role

Emerson is looking for a Staff Developer to design and maintain mobile‑friendly Progressive Web Applications that power custom enterprise tools for its Lifecycle Services business. You will work on both backend (Node.js) and frontend (React) components, delivering reliable, offline‑capable solutions for field teams and business users.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain full‑stack web applications using React and Node.js (Express.js or NestJS) for Emerson’s custom enterprise tools.
• Implement Progressive Web App capabilities such as service workers, offline caching, push notifications and installability.
• Design, develop and support RESTful APIs and MongoDB data models, ensuring performance and mobile‑friendly payloads.
• Collaborate in Agile ceremonies, conduct code reviews and provide production support for the Mobile Apps program.

Required skills

• Node.js with Express.js or NestJS, including routing, middleware and JWT/OAuth2 authentication.
• React (hooks, component design) with state management using Redux or Context API.
• Progressive Web App development: service workers, web app manifest, offline caching (Cache API, Workbox), push notifications.
• MongoDB schema design, CRUD operations, indexing and aggregation pipelines.
• REST API design, HTTP methods, JSON payload handling.
• Git version control and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar).
