Senior Protection & Control Engineer

About the role

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Protection & Control Engineer to support high‑voltage substation projects up to 500 kV across the Asia‑Pacific region. The role involves delivering innovative engineering solutions for transmission and distribution infrastructure while collaborating with globally connected teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate technical delivery on multidisciplinary substation projects, managing scope, schedule, resources and budgets.
• Develop detailed designs for protection, control and secondary systems, including single‑line diagrams, protection and metering schemes, and control schematics.
• Design and integrate IEC 61850‑based communication networks and automation systems.
• Support procurement by preparing technical specifications, datasheets and evaluating tenders.
• Conduct engineering reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards, safety and quality requirements.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship and guidance to engineers and designers.
• Assist with construction, site testing, commissioning and operational readiness activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in transmission and distribution projects, especially HV substation design.
• Strong background in protection and control engineering, secondary systems engineering, or both.
• Knowledge of industry standards, utility requirements and power system practices.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and ability to handle multiple projects.
