Senior Data Analyst – Global Business Intelligence

About the role

As a Senior Data Analyst on Elsevier’s Global Business Intelligence team, you will enable the Sales organization to act on data‑driven insights. You will work with modern tools such as Snowflake and AI assistants to build, maintain and improve reporting solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with sales, finance, operations and IT stakeholders to translate business challenges into data solutions.
• Design and deliver user‑friendly dashboards and visualisations in Excel, Salesforce and Tableau.
• Develop, test and maintain the Nexus data warehouse, contributing to the migration from SQL Server to Snowflake.
• Lead ambiguous, high‑visibility requests, scope work, push back when data cannot answer a question and present recommendations to senior leaders.
• Establish and enforce standards for data modelling, SQL code review and dashboard consistency.
• Leverage AI tools (Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex) to accelerate development, analysis and documentation while ensuring responsible use.
• Conduct ad‑hoc analyses, improve existing sales tools and train users to increase adoption.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in business intelligence or data analysis.
• Strong SQL expertise, including window functions, CTEs and query optimisation on large tables.
• Hands‑on experience with a modern data warehouse (Snowflake preferred) and data transformation frameworks.
• Proven ability to build dashboards in Tableau or Power BI and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience setting technical standards, reviewing peers’ work and leading undefined requests.
• Bachelor’s degree; a degree in business, finance, computer science, statistics or related field is a plus.
